Diana Schwab, M.Ed., MSW

Diana Schwab used school as an excuse to live in many different parts of the country: Boston (undergrad), Arizona (more undergrad), Chicago (Erikson Institute, M.Ed.) Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh, MSW). Since moving back to Pittsburgh in 1994, Diana has collaborated with Dr. Sarah Springer on our Adoption Health Services of Western Pennsylvania.

In her work with our Adoption Health Services of Western Pennsylvania, Diana has spent the past 18 years helping to support the adustment and attachment processes for adopted children and their families. She also serves as a developmental consultant to all of our Kids Plus pediatricians, working with our Kids Plus parents to help sort out developmental concerns, manage significant changes in their families, and find and use all the resources they need.

Diana also has a private practice, in which she sees families and young children for play therapy and/or parental consultations. She also consults with Pittsburgh-area agencies that serve young children and their families.

Growing up in a rural community outside of Washington D.C., Diana’s favorite “toys” as a child were her family’s many pets — from dogs to cats to horses. One of 8 brothers and sisters, she's one of five generations in her family who enjoyed time spent each summer at her grandparents’ camp on Rangeley Lake in Northwest Maine.

Diana’s favorite thing about living in Pittsburgh is its geography — with all the rivers, mountains, bridges, barges, trains, trestles, and hillside homes, she says, “it’s like living in a tiny train set.” Diana and her family are also avid Steelers and Penguins fans.
