Samantha Gronlund grew up in Elizabeth, PA, and was a Kids Plus patient her whole childhood. She’s now the fourth Kids + Kid to become a Kids + Provider, and the first who was a regular patient of Dr. Wolynn!
Samantha always knew she wanted to take care of children when she grew up, and Kids Plus helped her realize that being a Physician Assistant was the perfect career for her. She says she’s dreamed of being a Kids Plus Physician Assistant ever since she was 15 years old, when she first had a conversation about the profession during a well visit with Stacey Stratton.
Samantha graduated from Duquesne University, where she earned a B.S. in Health Sciences and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies.
Samantha loves spending time with her family — especially Sunday night get-togethers at her grandfather’s house with her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She has two dogs — a Jack Russel/Corgie mix named Neli, and a German Shepherd puppy named Ember — who keep her very busy.
Samantha’s favorite childhood toys were Polly Pockets. She invested most of her elementary school allowance money in sets of all different sizes, and would spend hours in her room setting them up, playing with them, and taking care of them.
Her favorite place to “play” in Pittsburgh is Round Hill Park in Elizabeth. She likes to walk or run there for exercise, loves to watch the leaves change colors in the fall, and has always enjoyed seeing the animals and feeding the ducks. Samantha also has a special place in her heart for Kennywood and Idlewild, two places she loved to go and play every summer when she was younger.
Samantha met her fiancé while she was working at a diner to make money through high school and college. When they’re not wedding planning, they like to go out for dinner, movies, and ice cream.
