Terri Bailey was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. (She asks that Steelers fans not hate her for it!) Her entire family, including her Mom, her siblings, her aunts, and her cousins, all still live there. Terri has also, thanks to her husband, lived in Philadelphia, Columbus, Ohio, Montgomery, Alabama, East Lansing, Michigan, and Ashburn, Virginia. She’s lived in Pittsburgh for four years, and is happy to call it home.
At age 16, Terri decided she wanted to be a nurse. She graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and spent most of her nursing career taking care of premature infants in Neonatal Intensive Care nurseries. In 1996, she became an International Board Certified Lacation Consultant to provide new mothers with the breastfeeding assistance she didn’t have when her first son was born.
After 31 years of being a staff nurse, Terri decided to fulfill her dream of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. She recently received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh Pediatric Nurse Practitioner track. She did her clinical rotation at Kids Plus, and the rest is history!
Terri was elected by her peers to serve as the President of the Three Rivers Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Terri has been married for over 30 years and is the proud mother of two sons. Her older son is an EMT and member of the Army National Guard Reserves. Her younger son is a paramedic and career firefighter.
As a child, Terri’s favorite toy was a Mattel Dancerina — which probably explains why she took ballet lessons from age 5 to age 16. Two of Terri’s favorite pastimes are reading and traveling to Caribbean destinations. Her idea of paradise is sitting on a beach with a good book and a warm sun shining down on her.
