Elena Dysert grew up in Hampton Township in the North Hills and was lucky to have her family nearby, living all around Pittsburgh. She stayed in Pittsburgh for college and grad school, earning her BS and MPAS at Duquesne University.
Elena knew she wanted to work in the medical field since high school, when she visited her cousin at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. During the visit, she met his awesome Physician Assistant, who inspired her to pursue PA school. Though she loves science, Elena really loves answering questions and helping people learn about their health. Most importantly, she loves working with kids — which is why she wanted to be a pediatric PA.
During PA school, Elena completed her pediatrics rotation at West Penn Hospital, enjoyed living in the South Side, volunteered in elementary schools, and loved going to Pirates games with her classmates. She’s thrilled to be at Kids Plus for her first job as a PA!
In her free time, Elena stays busy with several hobbies including running, which she tries to do as often as she can. (One day she wants to train for a marathon.) She also loves skiing and ice skating in the winter. When she was growing up, you could always find her at the North Park ice rink, practicing her skills and teaching lessons for kids. Her favorite toys as a kid were her ice skates and her bike.
Elena’s favorite place to “play” in Pittsburgh is still North Park, where she likes to run, ice skate, kayak, or have dinner at The Boathouse. She also loves the Pittsburgh Zoo, where she likes to visit the beavers and the penguins.
